What happens when you keep giving up and starting over
Driving Myself (towards) Bananas

It's really easy to come up with excuses- hell, easier to make excuses than to do anything constructive. I've spent the past month making excuses including:

-I'm moving into my new house

-I'm adjusting to the five minute longer commute

-I'm picking up extra shifts at my job so I don't have the energy to work on my passions

-My new gym is farther away and it kinda sucks

-I've been waiting for my health discount to kick in so that I can get in to get my potential ADD assessed so I can finally focus

No matter the magnitude, each of these things are excuses as to why I shouldn't try at all. Let me assert that there is never going to be a perfect time to do something. Everyone has their own issues, their own problems, their own things going on that are just "too much". I'm sure even Tony Robbins or Dwayne Johnson could come up with reasons not to pursue their passions. Even the greats have bad days, it isn't superhuman capability that makes them great- but that they can make being human look super.

I just dropped off my best friend/love of my life at the airport. I won't see him for months. As much as this hurts, it does not mean inevitable doom and despair- it means that I have a choice. I can lay in bed with my dog and feel sorry for myself, or I can put my shoes on and take her for a run. I can easily get lost in another TV series or bunch of movies, but I wouldn't want Benjamin to be with a girl like that. I wouldn't want to be like that. We both deserve someone who is not only willing, but damn happy to get up and do amazing things.

So, how do we re-motivate?

What Else Could This Be?
I Swear I'm Dancing

1. Put on some music or a motivational speech: Tune out from the negative vibes and story lines that aren't your own. Take in the messages that make you feel the way that you would if you already accomplished you goals.

2. Sip some tea, coffee or water: What triggers your focus? Do you work best with a cup of coffee and your favorite creamer? Some days I go for coffee, others I'm feeling my favorite Bigelow green tea. Fill up with your favorite focus fuel and hit the road.

3. Write it out: Where is your destination? Why is getting there so important to you? Then figure out how you're going to get there. What small, attainable goals can you set now that will get you to your bigger goals that are ultimately going to fulfill you?

4. Go for a run. Do some push ups. Dance to your favorite album: Whatever puts you in your best physical state, do it. It's been proven time and time again that your physical state affects your mental state- that exercise is the greatest treatment for depression- so get your butt up and get those endorphins going.

5. Get. To. Work.: No more holding back. No more excuses. No more breaks. We are in this for the long haul or not at all. You're worth way more than the excuses that you've been clinging to. What's the point in holding on to them any longer? Think, why would you try to hold yourself back?

Set your eyes on the prize and glue them there. I want you to be so fixated that you see it in your dreams. How badly do you want it? If it isn't too bad. then maybe mediocrity is okay, I'm not saying that it isn't- but is it ideal? If not, then what is?

Without me, there's no light. Without him, there's no sustenance.
He is the coals, I am the fire
