Absolutely Do Not Follow Your Heart (Without First Consulting Your Head)

Follow your heart. It sounds nice and sweet. It encourages us to lead with what we love and what makes us happy. It paints pictures of us living it up in big cities, working for passion, living in fancy homes and kissing the man/woman of our dreams. Ideally, it means we're being led by a reputable source, right?
Well, I've come to find that when it comes to dreams, my heart is on the case. With a will, there's a way and with love, anything can become a steamy, passionate romance. Right?
No. When it comes to practical application, out heart has no practical points. Sometimes, practicality isn't what we're looking for, and in such cases our hearts may be our consultants. In cases involving things like stability and money, it's best to keep your heart where it belongs, and start picking your brain instead.

Sometimes, your heart is totally warranted in having free range over a situation: When a romance is flourishing
When you hear a song that makes you smile
When letting yourself cope from tragedy
When drawing, painting or otherwise creating.

However, be cautious. There will be times in your life that will be more stressful than others. When going through a period of time involving a move, losing a family member, or going through a breakup, it is very important to appropriately let yourself cope before making any executive decisions. If your heart aches, let it. Don't try to rush yourself to the other side of the situation. Don't make any executive decisions or promises. Take the time for mourning and absolutely do not let your heart deceive you. She very well may try to pose as your head. Stick to your guns and know yourself.
It's important to do things that will lead to your long-term happiness and well-being. Just don't let temporary pleasure and happiness cloud your reasoning. You may very well compromise the relationships and things that you care about most.

You'll grow.
You'll learn.
You'll make it.
Sometimes it just hurts first.
I'm sorry I couldn't see it before.
