Having recently graduated from high school, I have quite a few people in my life that don't yet have themselves figured out. Whether they just haven't come up with successful routines (me), ways to accomplish their goals, or maybe they haven't realized their goals at all. The thing is that life is for everyone and it can be conquered by everyone if they just have the proper tools in their belt to do so. Of course, by this I mean to say that each and every one of you has the potential within to take control of your life!

Some people never come to this realization. They become too distracted and absorbed in the things going on with people and things around them that they never take the time to consider what it takes to get what they may want from life.

This is super unfortunate- DON'T LET THIS BE YOU!

On a positive note, if you clicked on this post, it likely means that you are one of the few that is open enough to take the road less traveled by- the one to self discovery.

Tell me how does this sound:

You've decided that you want more from life

You have an idea or two that you get SUPER excited about

You spend a few days, maybe a week or two, working obsessively on this idea

Then, something either distracts you or throws a fork in the road

And then you lose steam and stop.

Or

You just have no idea how to start in the first place.

Sound familiar?

It is more common than not for people to give up on their future success because they don't want to put in the work or they just have no idea where or how to start. Now, I'm not perfect, but I did take the steps to find my path to where I want to go in life. If you're at a loss for direction, here are a few tips to help guide you to your path.

1. Set Aside Time to DELVE DEEPLY- Don't let distractions keep you from finding your path to a better life! Take the time to start contemplating your potential passions- meditate on it or even write a list of things that even mildly grab your interest. Sometimes the things that seem the least probable end up totally turning your life upside down (for the better!)

2. RESEARCH- Delve a little deeper into the topics that take your interest. Typically, you're going to want to pay special attention to how the topic makes you feel. Could you build a life out of it? If not, would its addition improve any aspects of your life? Even just uncovering some surface information or looking into potential career options could shed some light on some crucial information that you'd never before considered.

3. Check Out Different PERSPECTIVES: Within every field has at least a few different career options. For example: if you are interested in writing, you could be a novelist, graphic novelist, screen writer, journalist, blogger, critic, song writer, non fiction writer etc. If you're interested in anatomy, you could teach a class, become a doctor, surgeon, nurse, fitness coach, nutritionist, chiropractor, etc. If you can't see yourself in one particular job, DON'T GIVE UP! because your options are so expansive- there is still a place for you.

4. Figure Out the STEPS REQUIRED: Any path leading to success is going to require that you take a few particular technical steps. What I mean is that some careers require necessary training and/or certifications while others just require daily practice. Using our previous examples, a writer must write consistently and then find a platform through which to publish their pieces. Most people pursuing careers involving anatomy are going to have to go through specific schooling- whether it be medical school specifically or a bachelor's degree from a four year college. It is important to figure out the first step so that you can actually get started on your journey.

5. TAKE THE FIRST STEP: Whether this involves schooling or not is up to you. If school is what's next, this may involve figuring out financial situations or even just which school to attend. If you are pursuing a future in the creative arts, your next step may just be to come up with something to promote and who to promote it to. This is the most meaningful step in that most people never get to it.

"Don't let your dreams be dreams. Yesterday you said tomorrow so-"

I wish each and every one of you good luck on finding the first steps to your paths. Even if things get hard for a bit, life only gets ultimately more fulfilling from there, I promise!
