I do 30 minutes of yoga every morning and let me tell you, it is a wonderful habit to have. Like with any practice, some days are harder than others- but there are big reasons that my yoga practices will always remain a part of my daily life:

1. Start saying "Wow, what a wonderful day!" : Before anything else in the morning, practicing yoga helps your body to revamp it's energy and your mind to think more positively!

2. It's a health helper! : Yoga poses are designed not only to tone muscles and increase flexibility, but also to massage the internal organs. While this might sound strange, these movements promote internal health and help your digestive system to operate more smoothly.

3. Alters the effects of aging: Ever had one of your elders tell you "take care of your body while you're young, so you won't have (insert body part here) problems when you're my age."? Well, yoga happens to be a perfect way to remind your body of its youthful capabilities. Its practices carefully build and maintain muscle strength and flexibility, improving bodily vitality as well as all sorts of functions. If you start now, whether 18 or 80, your muscles will start to remember what it was like to have the energy of an 8 year old.

4. Neutralize stress! : By taking 30+ minutes a day to focus on ridding your body of stress and tension, your mind ends up taking the same effect. In addition, breathing exercises help your mind to stay crisp and attentive, making your memory stronger and your focus sharper.

5. Sick days, go away! : By doing yoga, not only are you strengthening and stretching your muscles, organs, and mind, but you are also improving your immune system. With all of that focus put on your body's rhythm and operation, you're also keeping your white blood cells active and on their toes.

6. Yoga reduces risk and moderates the effects of :

- Anxiety

- Depression

- Heart disease

- Diabetes

- Arthritis

- Asthma

- Osteoperosis

7. Better sleep : By using more energy to work your muscles and sharpen your mind, your body starts to require more and more rejuvenating rest. This effect increases the amount of serotonin sent to the brain around the end of the day, ensuring a stronger, more nourishing night's rest.

8. Calm your PMS! : Ladies, cramps suck. If I don't do my morning yoga and massage my tummy a bit, I'll be stuck in bed with a heating pad all day. I'm telling you, it helps.

9. Improves sexual performance: Come on, more energy, stronger muscles and feeling sexy? How could you deny it?

10. Yoga makes you look AWESOME.

Thinking about adding a yoga practice to your daily routine, but don't have the money to go to a class?

That's OKAY!

I do all of my practices through DVDs and video services through home. Some of my favorites are:

- Namaste Yoga (DVD Series)

- Yoga With Adriene (YouTube)

- Gaia.com - Requires a monthly membership, but for $10 a month it's totally worth it. Gaia also has videos on spiritual science, body detoxes, psychology, psychedelic perspectives, and herbal based medicines.

Get fit and hot with daily yoga!

positive.
