How to Turn a Christmas Ghost into Christmas Spirit

Here we are, December seventh. I don't know about you guys, but there are 0nly eighteen days until Christmas and twenty-four until the New Year- and I just don't feel it.
This is a total first for me. but with my recent business endeavors, I've become too busy to even acknowledge the presence of the holidays. In Christmas' Past, I've always been the initiator of my household's holiday cheer- pushing for the tree, the decorating, the parties and the mistletoe. This year, I haven't yet decorated a thing.
If you're working like crazy just to make the holidays happen, here are some ways to put the cheer into your daily chores:
1. Music Morphs Your Mind:
There's a reason that people play music when they feel/ want to feel something. When you play music, your brain glows up like tree lights- your motor cortex gets you moving, your frontal cortex gets you grooving, and your Amygdala starts feeling the "fa la la". Try playing Christmas instrumentals while you're writing, sing-alongs while you're cleaning and Christmas rock while you're driving. Even if it takes a bit, I promise you'll get Mariah Carey stuck in your head. (Sorry, not sorry)
2. Chill Time?
During your weekly allotted chill time or your Christmas Eve wrapping rush, put on a movie! If you've only got an hour, throw on the holiday special of your favorite TV show. Goodness, I love the Friends Thanksgiving fiascos.
When I was in high school, I once took a whole night to draw all holiday versions of all of my friends while watching ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas. It was always a perfect way to jingle two bells with one stone.
3. Decorate:
If you decided not to decorate this year because you're too busy- WRONG ANSWER. Even if you just put up a small tree with some easy ornaments made of toothbrushes and spices on paper clips, DO IT. You'll instantly feel that much more holiday zest (get it. Zesty. Because of the spices).
4. Wear Your Christmas Uniform:
If you get to choose your work outfit (at least to an extent), find a way to incorporate red and green into Corporate America. If you have to, find a creative and subtle way to do it- if no one notices, you can giggle and gleam because you are so damn sneaky and clever. When you're not at work, wear your favorite pj's, light-up, ugly sweater and red and green spiral gauges. Be as odd and spirited as you want- it's Christmas, bitches!
5. Volunteer:
'Tis the season to live and give. If you just so happen to have your day off the same day that Toys For Tots is meeting up, or the animal shelter is giving away cats for free, go help out! Last year, I was a part of a group called "The Basket Brigade". We essentially spent a whole day making boxes and bags of food for those unable to afford a Thanksgiving dinner. We even gave blankets, beanies and bags to people on the street. I felt the true meaning of Christmas of that day and recommend it to anyone who's looking for some heart growth.
It's not too late to get into the festivities. I promise myself and you that I will dive face first into the plastic snow- starting with the music that I listened to while writing this :)
Happy Holidays, Everyone <3
