A huge factor in procrastination is the idea that there's plenty of time. It's so easy to get distracted from your goals when their realization is so far away:

"Why would I put this money in savings when I can just spend it on something that I can have/do/eat now?"

"What's the point of limiting my spending? I'm going to have to work my whole life away anyways."

"I'll start eating healthier tomorrow."

These are only a few examples, but the unfortunate truth is that I could go on and on listing excuses that we come up with to justify why we shouldn't/can't have a better life. Isn't that ridiculous?

The truth is, the future is full of some pretty scary possibilities. What if we get divorced? What if my business doesn't kick off? What if I can't lose weight? Then what?

Before all of that, let me just say this:

If you don't even pass the starting line, how are you ever going to know what happens if you do win the race?

Your mindset is magic- whatever you decide you are going to do, you will do. Whether it takes you weeks, months or years, you get to decide if your best work happens at all. People get so wrapped up in why they can't do something:

"It costs money to produce raps"

"I could not wake up at 5 am, so I'm not going to kid myself"

"I could pursue my passions, but I have an opportunity to do something that I already know will make money. Why even try? I'll never make it otherwise."

If you're making excuses like this, I'm here to tell you that you're wrong. Money is everywhere. You can go to sleep and wake up whenever you decide to. Sure you could have easy money but is your soul going to be satisfied with a career that doesn't fulfill your destiny?

Damn it people, stop for a second. Stop thinking about the road ahead and start thinking about your destination. Have you always dreamed of owning a house in San Francisco? Of having a family that doesn't struggle and always gets what they need? Is your dream car worth ten times what your current car is worth? Do you want to own your own business? To write your own books?

If your dreams are financially out of reach, it's time to get to work, get excited and get committed to the task of making them happen:

-Create a dream board

-Write a personal mission statement

-Find something that keeps you motivated: look at houses in San Francisco, take a test drive in your dream car, go to Corgi Con, Gain physical strength by working out

-Start somewhere: Apply to all of the jobs in your field in the area, start reading about successful businesses, commit to writing for an hour every single day.

"The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies and emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain and pleasure to, we instantly change our behaviors." Tony Robbins

I absolutely love this concept so much. Essentially, if you decide that your current situation is both physically and mentally painful, your instincts will kick your butt into gear so that you can escape it. You get to decide whether you live in a place of intense misery or intense happiness- it all depends on what you decide you deserve.

So stop living in regret, discomfort and pain. You deserve more in life and if you've gotten to this point in this post, you believe this to be true. When your current situation has got you down, look to tomorrow to motivate your today. You get to decide what your future holds.
