How often do you get yourself into a groove where you're going and going- then you suddenly stop. You check out the rhythm, the motives, the steps and everything seems to be intact; but you just can't seem to get yourself going again.
It's like your path has lost its magic.
Everyone hits these critical points where they have to ask themselves who they are. When things aren't happening happily or naturally, we tend to assume the worst when really- we're not robots.
Sometimes all of the parts are there, so we assume the machine should be running perfectly- but our hearts are suffering and/or dissatisfied.
When you find yourself in this position of mental/physical/spiritual emptiness, do each of these five actions:
1. REST:
No matter how "used to it" you are, six hours of sleep is not enough for your body to efficiently recharge. Take your days off to get a few extra hours and even be a little lazy. Now I know that you crazy worker bees don't believe in it, but laying down and reading, cuddling with your significant other and/or even watching an episode of your favorite TV show or TED Talk rests your brain and increases you dopamine levels- helping you feel more peaceful and
2. RUN:
I don't care how much you claim to hate exercise, if you don't do this, you haven't really done all that you can to feel better. Find a physical activity that works you while fitting to your preferences. Wanna kick the shit out of something and burn hella calories while doing it? Try (kick) boxing. Do you have a passion for music and rhythm? Dancing. Enjoy cardio but want to avoid excess impact on your joints? Swimming.
Get your butt out of bed and go do something. Though it will be difficult at first, it will always wake you up and add to your energy tank.
3. REFRESH:
Jump into a pool or take a cold shower. If this sounds uncomfortable, that's because it is. By subjecting your body to freezing cold water, especially after being under warm blankets, your body demands for blood to flow faster. In an attempt to keep your organs warm, your body (while uncomfortable) shocks your system and wakes you up.
4: RHYTHM:
Even if you're in the absolute worst mood, put on some music and force yourself to get up. Sing, dance, jump around- do whatever it takes to pull yourself out of your funk and come up to a whole 'nother level. Give it a good ten minutes of effort and you'll soon find yourself having fun.
5: REFLECT:
Why do you think that you feel this way? What could be happening in your life that is knocking you out of alignment? Is there anything that you know you need to do? Something you've been avoiding? Someone that you need to talk to?
No one can tell you why you feel the way that you do. Those that you are close to can help the best that they can, but ultimately you are the only person that can decipher the core of your unhappiness.
No matter what you do do.
Do not let yourself sink.
Because your inaction
Your lack of motivation
It will only make you feel worse.
You have to pull yourself to clarity.
You decide whether you're going to live happy
and successful
or unsatisfied
and unchanged.
