How You Know You're Walking the Right Way

One would think that choosing the correct path for him or herself should be an action of intuition. That we would just be able to spin around and stop, simply walking down the path, only worrying about its sketchiness. Nope, guess what- we’re a society of GPS. You get to put in the address and you get to decide which path you’re going to take. Feel like going for a drive? Take the long way and stop to smell the traffic. Trying to take shortcuts? Pick some backstreets and hightail it on over.

My point? Decide what’s most important to you and go for it. Are you living for the money? Go for something that you can at least tolerate and make some money. Are you living for the thrill of it? Go on a backpacking trip with your basic supplies and have a grand old time.

So many of us stand before the fork in the road for years without choosing a path because we’re worried to make the “wrong choice”. So, the real question on everyone’s mind is “how do I know that I’m making the right choice?”

Here’s the truth:

There’s no right answer...

But before you click away, please consider:

The simple answer is: The right path is the path that you’re on right now. You’re meant to go through the awful things that happen. I’m not saying that anyone deserves to have awful things happen, but simply that such things happen for a reason. With every mistake we learn; with every heartbreak we gain strength and with every wrong turn, our sense of direction becomes significantly clearer. Go with your gut and your heart. If something feels wrong, turn in the direction that resonates with you most. Don’t let yourself get confused over the numerable possibilities, but instead take what you have and make the best of it. Take life’s lemons and make some lemonade- you can always add more sugar later (even if you have to go back to the store, sugar’s cheap).
